Die Casting Mold Cleaning

Updated: Jan 29

Alpipress, was born from the need to produce die-cast parts in aluminum and magnesium for its high end market. The company has then developed over the years by acquiring challenging projects in various industrial sectors. Thanks to the company's extensive know-how in the die casting sector, strategic investments and a new organization, Alpiress has become one of the main players in the AUTOMOTIVE sector whilst at the same maintaining and developing the traditional customer base.

The Area of Focus

Cleaning of die casting molds is necessary after a certain number of production cycles. This involves disassembling the mold from the die-casting machine, applying hydrocarbon-based solvents to the mold cavities and, finally, if necessary, traditional sandblasting is used to eliminate any damaging residue to the end product quality. It would be unthinkable to extend the production cycles without cleaning the mold as this would lead to defects, surface imperfections and a general deterioration of the end product quality.

The Challenge

The customer was seeking to implement new technologies and methodologies aimed at improving their productivity, positively impact their product quality and eliminate non-environmentally friendly processes and products.

Mediterranean Industrial Services has proposed replacing the traditional processes of using solvents and pneumatic brass tool cleaning with Dry Ice blasting and specifically using the Areo®2 PCS®60.
